SPIRIT WEEK

On 29/3/11 it is Twin Day, so Izak, Sanjiv, Francesco and Alex dressed up in are Taekwando kit it was funny because our German teacher got mixed up with us.  It was not very fun for everyone  because at the end of the school day two of us had to put on their real pants on (they had their Taekwondo pants under there real pants).    by Alex,Izak

It was too bad I had a scarf on me and the others did not, so we were not exactly the same.

I loved Twin day with Maxime(BFF) because we called each other Hello Twin!

Mr Phil came into our room, he thought we looked FANTASTIC in RED, he took our photo and then we decided we needed another one looking silly - which one do you like?

Unit 5

This current Unit we have started working through is titled " Choices are difficult to make", and just before Ski Week break we had a session were the children had "free time" - although they needed to complete two tasks BEFORE snack time. Many chose to have "free time" and then needed to do the task DURING snack time, then after the break we have experienced a "No Choice" session where several  tasks were completed one after the other and there was no choice - which book you read, when you went to the bathroom, where you sat ( single tables of boy/girl), and organised games during recess.  The "headlines" on our door read - "Morning destroys Class". Today was 100% bad", "Cool", Painful Day", "A very, very different was to spend the day", The day we had to listen to the teacher even at recess", "3.1 needs freedom". So we have experienced the two ends of "CHOICES" now we move on to the next stage .........

MATHS

Since we have returned to school we have been studying tessallations, and we have some photos of tessallations in  progress! Generally it was MUCH easier using  the blocks rather than cutting out paper to make the same patterns effectively. We have appreciated the work involved by the artistans  who have produced so much impressive work in the past.

It was a chance to experiment with the concept.

It was not always easy to keep the pattern going.

Sometimes it was good to have two heads working together.

CHOIR

Dear Parents,
We urgently need to find families who can host young musicians, in grades 6 through 8, who have been selected to participate in the International Band Festival, taking place at ISD. Students arrive in Düsseldorf on Wednesday, March 23rd and leave again on Sunday, March 27th. This means they need 4 nights' accommodation.
This is a great opportunity for us to show the real ISD welcome, to make new friends from other schools, and to share in a world-class live music event.
You may already have received an email similar to this one, via another mailing list (e.g. choir). You may have agreed already to be a festival houser. In either case, please excuse this message coming to you. The fact that you are receiving yet another message will tell you how urgently we need this help.
Even if you are unable to house anyone yourself, maybe you know of an ISD family with some space and a friendly welcome for a young musician or two. Perhaps there are still some ISD families who haven't heard yet how desperate we are to find housing for our visitors. Could you make a few phone calls or forward this email to some families?
Please let me know if you can help!

MATHS DAY

Hello everyone, today the children appreciated that so many of you were able to come along and share a very short time working on some Maths problems with them.

We have taken a few photos so I hope you like being on the blog!!  Today your child will  bring home a plastic pocket with the three games that we had ready to play, as I know many of you were only able to play one!  We would also appreciate your reflection of the day - many of the children were not impressed having to teach someone who ASKED SO MANY QUESTIONS!!! ( I think some Mums in particular were having fun!)

Welcome to all tomorrow for our MATHS DAY @ ISD
